Iran plans to facilitate the construction operation of the Persian Gulf Star refinery, Shahrokh Khosravani, deputy director of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), said.

Khosravani said that a new team has been assigned to carry out the construction plan of the refinery's gas condensates refining unit, Iran's SHANA News Agency reported on Nov. 25.

He went on to note that the first phase of the Persian Gulf Star refinery (with the capacity to produce 12 million liters of gasoline per day) will come on stream by the end of the next Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2016).

"The project is now 76.5 percent complete," he said.

Khosravani said on June 9 that Iran will be able to export 20 million liters of gasoline per day once the Persian Gulf Star refinery's gasoline production unit comes on stream.

"Once the refinery's gasoline production unit comes on stream, the country's total production capacity will reach 96 million liters per day," Khosravani said.

"Then Iran will be able to export the surplus gasoline which is around 20 million liters per day," he noted.

Once Persian Gulf Star refinery completely comes on stream some 36 million liters of gasoline and 14 million liters of diesel oil will be added to the country's total production capacity.
