Iran’s electricity production hits 198,447 GW

Iran's electricity production has hit 198,447 gigawatt hours (GWh) since the beginning of the current Iranian year (began on March 21).

The figure rose by 6.43 percent compared to the same period in the past year, Iran's Energy Ministry website reported on November 26.

Thermal and hydroelectric power plants generated 187,443 GWh and 11,004 GWh, respectively, showing 6.7 percent and 2.01 percent rise year on year.

Power generation capacity in Iran has grown by seven percent annually during the past 10 years.

Iran is currently the biggest electricity producer in the Middle East.
