Iran, Azerbaijan trade turnover hits $ 336 million

Trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan has surpassed $336 million during the first eight months of current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-Nov. 22), 5.37 percent less compared to the same months of the preceding year.

Iran has exported $322.19 million worth of goods to Azerbaijan during the period, which indicates a fall by 5.58 percent year on year, the Iranian Customs Administration said.

The Islamic Republic exported some 1.5 million metric tons of goods to Azerbaijan during that period which is 17.96 percent less compared the 8-month period of last year.

Iran also imported some $14 million worth of goods from Azerbaijan during the period, 7.14 percent less than the last fiscal year's first eight months (March 21 to Nov. 22, 2013).

Iran-Azerbaijan trade balance, stood at $308 million in the 8-month period, compared to $ 324 million in the same period of the preceding year.

Azerbaijan ranked fifth at the list of the countries Iran had the highest positive trade balance after Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Pakistan.

The Islamic Republic has exported 124,000 metric tons of goods, worth $42.9 million to Azerbaijan during the 8th Iranian calendar month of Aban (Oct. 22- Nov. 22), which indicates a fall of 10.69 percent in terms of volume and a rise by 23.58 percent in terms of value respectively compared to the same period of last year.

Iran's trade balance with Azerbaijan stood at $450 million in the previous Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20.

Iran Customs administration reported that the country's exports to Azerbaijan surpassed $482 million, meanwhile Tehran imported $32 million worth of goods from Baku in the mentioned period.

Iran's non-oil foreign trade amounted to $65.7 billion in the first eight months of the current Iranian fiscal year.

Iran's non-oil exports accounted for $31.447 billion of the mentioned amount, while imports accounted for $34.254 billion.
