Tehran, Iran, Jan. 18
By Milad Fashtami - Trend:

The level of lead in chicken meat distributed in Tehran province is 47 percent more than the global standard, Rahmatollah Hafezi, the head of Health Commission of Tehran City Council said.

"We are running a new test and the reports will be announced in two weeks," he said, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported on Jan.18.

The official said that despite the common belief, the level of hormones in chicken meat in Iran is less than the global standards.

The Governor of Tehran Province Seyed Hossein Hashemi previously said that the chicken meat distributed in the province is not polluted.

"The health ministry has not filed any report about the pollution of the meat to the governor's office," he explained.
