A bus production plant, special for urban bus rapid transit (BRT) routes, was inaugurated in Iran's northwestern East Azarbaijan province.
Some 1100 billion rials (about $32 million) has been invested in the project, Iran's IRIB reported on Feb. 7.
The project will create 1000 direct jobs and 3000 indirect jobs.
The plant will manufacture 1500 BRT buses per year.
BRT is a bus-based mass transit system. A BRT system generally has specialized design, services and infrastructure to improve system quality and remove the typical causes of delay.
