By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran unveiled a sample of domestically made solar centaur gas turbine, which is widely used in different sections of the oil industry.

The TMC-52 model of solar centaur gas turbine was manufactured by Turbine Machine Middle East Company.

"Manufacturing the turbine indicates that many of equipments required for the upstream oil sector can be easily manufactured domestically," said Rokneddin Javadi, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company during the unveiling ceremony, Iran's Shana news agency reported June 1.

The Centaur model of gas turbines, first entered service in 1968, supplying 2,700 horsepower (2,000 kW), while the modern versions supply 4,700 horsepower (3,500 kW).

In July 2014, Javadi said that the Oil Ministry has stepped up efforts to produce petroleum industry equipment.

The Ministry is concentrating its efforts on domestic manufacturing of equipment needed in the petroleum industry, he added.

He noted that 10 groups are to be established to indigenize manufacturing of strategic commodities for the oil industry.
