Iran produced about 20.88 million metric tons of cement in the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal (March 21-July 22), Abdolreza Sheikhan, secretary of Iran's Cement Industry Employers Association said.
Some 24.87 million metric tons of clinker also produced in the mentioned period, Sheikhan said, Iran's industry, mines and trade ministry's official SHATA news portal reported Aug. 22.
He further said that more than 5.262 million metric tons of cement as well as 5.512 million metric tons of clinker were produced in the fourth calendar month (June 22-July 22).
Some 17.1 million metric tons of cement was supplied to the domestic market in the 4-month period, he added.
Iran exported 5.167 million metric tons of cement in the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year, Sheikhan said, adding the figure includes 1.318 million metric tons of clinker.
The country's cement and clinker export in the fourth calendar month accounted for 653,999 and 171,762 metric tons respectively, he stated.
Tehran exported 18.942 million metric tons of cement and clinker in the past Iranian fiscal year, a one percent rise year on year.
Iran currently exports cement to 24 countries including Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Oman, India, and China.
Seven countries out of the mentioned 24 accounted for 97 per cent of Iran's total cement exports.
Iraq with 63 percent, Azerbaijan with four percent, and Turkmenistan with seven percent were the main importers of Iranian cement.
Iran produced over 61 million metric tons of cement and 64 million metric tons of clinker in the past fiscal year.
