Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 22

The National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) has increased gas injection into its oil fields during the first five months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-Aug. 22), Abdol Hossein Koutaki, director of the first zone of National Iranian Gas Transmission Company said.
At least 6.4 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas was injected into the oil fields run by the NISOC during the period, 10 percent more year on year, Koutaki said, the oil ministry's official SHANA news agency reported Sept. 22.
The official further said that some four bcm was injected into Aghajari field, 1.7 bcm to Karanj field and 497 mcm to Koupal field during the five-month period.
Gas injection to Karanj field indicates a rise by 51 percent year on year, meanwhile injection to Aghajari and Koupal fields witnessed slight rise of 1 and 2 percent respectively in the period, he added.
Iran injects gas into its oil fields, which are mostly in the second half-life, in order to increase recovery from them. Over 150 million cubic meters of gas should be injected on daily basis to the country's oilfields according to the Islamic Republic's Fifth Five-Year Development Plan (2010-2015). The predicted figure is vital to prevent pressure fall and maintain the output in oil fields.
Early in March Hassan Montazer Torbati, the National Iranian Gas Company's Secretary of Planning said that gas injection to oilfields has increased by one billion cubic meters during the last fiscal year (ended on March 21, 2015) compared to preceding year.
The country injected averagely 90 million cubic meters of gas each day into the old oilfields in the last fiscal year.
