Iran's central bank governor Valiollah Seif arrived in Frankfurt, Germany Nov. 18 to participate in the 18th Euro Finance Week forum.

Iran-EU banking issues will be discussed at the forum on Nov. 18-19, Seif said, Iran's Mehr news agency reported.

The Iranian official is also scheduled to deliver a speech on Nov. 19 about resuming the Iran-EU banking ties and benefits of Iranian banks' presence in global markets.

Iran's economy has the potential to grow by about eight percent a year over time, once sanctions are lifted, Seif said upon his arrival to Germany.

The sanctions are to be lifted based upon the signed nuclear deal, which was reached between Iran and the P5+1 group, made up of the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany, on July 14.

Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders said Nov. 10 that Iran is seeking to join the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) in the coming weeks.

SWIFT which facilitates the bulk of global cross-border payments disconnected designated Iranian financial firms from its messaging system in 2012 due to sanctions on the country's nuclear program.
