Since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21) to the end of its eighth month (November 21) Iran exported 4.953 billion cubic meters (bmc) of gas to Turkey.

Yadollah Baibverdi, director of Iran's Gas Transfer District 8 which spans areas in northwestern Iran, said each day 30 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas is exported to Turkey, 1.5 mcm to Nakhchivan, and 1.5 mcm to Armenia.

Newly inaugurated projects have increased Iran's ability to export up to 40 mcm/d of gas to Turkey right now, he added, SHANA news agency reported.

Iran is ready to hold talks with Turkey for signing a new gas contract, Azizullah Ramazani, chairman of Iranian National Gas Company for International Affairs recently said, adding within the current gas contract, Iran cannot supply extra gas to the neighboring country.

Earlier, Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, Iranian oil minister, said Tehran will not increase its gas supply to Ankara in case of a possible shortage of gas in Turkey due to the recent tensions with Moscow.
