Production of fuel oil in Iran will decrease to 10 percent of the total refining capacity by 2025, Iran's Deputy Oil Minister Abbas Kazemi said Dec.14.

It is expected that in the next four years, the country's demand for fuel oil will be restricted to only two months in a year, according to Kazemi who also serves as the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company.

Therefore, the preparations for marketing and exporting this fuel in global markets are very important, he added.

"The demand for fuel oil in shipping sector will decrease by 2025," he said. "Therefore, Iran should adapt itself to global markets in coming years."

Below is the table of fuel oil production, consumption level during last years, based on the latest statistics, released by National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC).
