Tehran calls on Baku to apply visa-free regime for Iranians (UPDATE)

Iranian minister for information and communication technologies, Mahmoud Vaezi has said his country calls on Azerbaijan to apply a visa-free regime for Iranian citizens.

Vaezi, addressing the joint Azerbaijan-Iran economic cooperation commission meeting in Tehran Dec. 21, further called for expansion of trade and political ties between Tehran and Baku, Trend's correspondent reported from the event venue.

The minister, saying that a joint economic commission was created between Iran and Azerbaijan, noted that expansion of ties with neighboring countries is of high importance for the government of President Hassan Rouhani.

"All the international restrictions against Iranian traders will be revoked within the coming two or three weeks," he further explained.

"Iranian businessmen will be entitled to have trade ties with world and take advantages of international banking systems," noted Vaezi.
