Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 21

By Khalid Kazimov - Trend:

Tehran has called on Russia and Azerbaijan to swap oil products with Iran in winter
given the freezing cold weather in Central Asia and Caucasus, swapping oil products through Iran in winter is economically justified for the Caspian littoral states, Naser Sajjadi, the managing director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, said.

He said that given the high consumption of liquid gas in the country due to cold weather, Iran has decided to swap oil products in order to decrease delivery costs within the country, Mehr news agency reported Dec. 21.

Commenting on the swap of oil products, Naser Sajjadi said that Iranian private sector has resumed swapping diesel and liquid gas under the supervision of government.

Iran currently swaps liquid gas and diesel with Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Sajjadi mentioned.

Saying that currently about 200 million liters of various oil products are being distributed in the country per day, he pledged that there will be no shortage of liquid fuel in winter in the country.

Iran swapped crude oil with the Caspian littoral states between 1999-2009, which led Tehran to earn $ 800 million from crude swap.
