Tehran, Iran, December 25

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

Phases 15 and 16 of Iran's giant gas field South Pars will come on stream in four months, said Reconstruction and Development Base Brigadier General Ebadollah Abdollahi, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) construction unit Khatam al-Anbiya, IRNA reported December 25.

The two phases will yield 52 million cubic meters of gas per day together, he said.

The commander added that when these two phases come on stream, Iran will have no need for importing gas.

Up to two years ago, Iran used to import a daily amount of 12 million cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan.

Iran is preparing to boost enriched gas production capacity from current 700 million cubic meters per day to above 1000 million cubic meters per day in two years by launching several phases of South Pars field.
