Iran’s iron ore output decreases by 8%

Iran's major state-run iron ore producing companies have produced about 25.9 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the first ten months of current Iranian fiscal year (March 21, 2015-Jan. 21).

The figure indicates an eight -percent fall compared to the same period of the previous year, the Islamic Republic's Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported Feb. 15.

Gol Gohar ranked first among the companies producing 8.677 million tons of iron ore concentrate followed by Chadormalou with 7.806 million tons of production.

Markazi (4.598 million tons), Sangan (2.919 million tons) and Jalalabad(764,544 tons) were other leading state-run iron ore producers.

The Iranian state-run companies extracted 39.1 million tons of iron ore in the ten-month period, registering an 11-percent fall year-on-year.

The eight major companies(Gol Gohar, Chadormalou, Markazi, Sangan, Jalalabad, Mishdavan, Sirjan and the Iranian Central Plateau Iron Ore Mines Complex) produced 2.68 million tons of iron ore in the tenth Iranian calendar month(Dec. 20, 2015, Jan. 21), seven percent less in comparison with the same month pf last fiscal year.

The report does not include the volume of produced iron ore by private sector companies, which in total produce 14 million tons of iron ore annually.

Iran's iron ore reserve stands at 5.1 billion tons, of which 2.8 billion tons are proven.
