German Peter W. Lampke (PWL) company confirmed that has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) for mutual cooperation.

"In general I can confirm that IRISL and PWL have signed a MoU for setting up a Joint Venture for the agency representation of all IRISL services in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands," Christian Koopmann, the managing director of the PWL told Trend Feb. 16.

He further said that more details will be published soon through the official IRISL media channels.

Iranian media reported Feb. 15 that a joint-venture shipping company will be formed under the document which was signed during the visit of Mohammad Saeedi, head of IRISL to Hamburg, Germany.

The joint shipping company is scheduled to start its operation from March 2016, according to the Iranian media.

Last month the IRISL was removed from the US list of companies designated for sanctions and assets freeze, as the nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers came into force.

International shipping lines are already stepping up port calls to Iran as the country's massive maritime trade sector is emerging from the sanctions.
