Iran needs to enhance its drugs export because the country's drugs industry will only boom when it gets hold of the region's thirsty market, Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi said.

Pharmaceutical manufacturers and banks are behind their suitable place in this regard and they have to make plans to boost exports, he added, IRNA news agency reported February 21.

"If we improve exports, the quality of domestic drugs will improve and prices will become fairer and we will win a great honor incomparable to other industries'," the minister stressed.

Iran's drugs export stands at $200 million per year. The number is the result of a 100-percent jump during the Rouhani administration which rose to power in 2013.
