Iran has accelerated gasification of houses, especially in villages, said Iran Oil Ministry's energy summary report, obtained by Trend.
According to the report, during the current fiscar year (started March 21), the amount of gasified houses in Iranian villages increased from 3 million in mid-2013 to 3.85 million this year.
This is while the gasification of rural houses indicated an increase of 150,000 year on year.
On the other hand, during the current year, the number of gasified houses in Iranian cities reached 18.8 million, about 100,000 more than last year.
According to the report, currently about 97 percent of urban and 69 percent of rural houses are connected to Iran's gas network.
In total, about 89 percent of Iranian houses have connected to the gas network and the figure is expected to reach 100 percent by 2021.
Iranian households consumed 45.361 billion cubic meters (bcm) during last fiscal year, about 0.75 bcm more than the previous year.
