Tehran, Iran, March 11
By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:
Iran's export of eggs will hit 90,000 tons for the current fiscal year (March 21, 2015 - March 19, 2016), according to Farzad Talakesh, the secretary of Iran's Egg Layer Poultry Breeders Union.
Putting the daily export at 350 tons, Talakesh said the domestic market is not favorable and the product is declining in price across Iran, Mehr news agency reported March 11.
He added in order to prevent further loss, producers are going to lower their output in the next Iranian year.
Next year egg production will be cut by 30,000 tons, Talakesh said.
Nasser Nabipour, ex-secretary of the association said in September that exporters must focus solely on Iraqi and Afghan markets, which are ideal for Iranian chickens and eggs due to their high demand, adding that Russia does not hold a good market for Iranian eggs.
"Transportation costs and the significant distance, coupled with Russia's demand for chicken and eggs, render chicken and egg export to the country uneconomical," he had said.
