Over $1.94 billion worth of shares were sold on Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) during the 31-day period, ending on April 19.

More than 23.446 billion shares were traded on the Tehran Stock Exchange during the first Iranian calendar month (March 20-April 19), Iran's IRNA news agency reported on April 20.

Over 1.73 million trades were realized during the one-month period.

The main index fell by 1789 points and stood at 78,430 points, while the secondary index hit 171,107 points.

The TSE main index jumped 25 percent in January when international sanctions against the Islamic Republic were lifted as a result of the implementation of the nuclear deal.

Founded in 1967, TSE trades a range of shares, funds and financial instruments, including Islamic funds. It didn't receive any foreign investment for several years because of sanctions over Iran's nuclear program.
