Iran's private sector is expected to launch three power plants in the south-eastern province of Kerman over the current fiscal year (started March 20).

Mohsen Tarztalab, the head of Iran's Holding Company for Electricity Production at Thermal Power Stations, said that two combined cycle power plants in Sirjan Town and another one in Kahnuj Town will be inaugurated, Fars news agency reported.

Earlier Iranian media reports suggested that India was planning to go ahead with a plan to build a $3 billion aluminum smelter complex in Kerman province's Sirjan Town.

It includes construction of a facility to produce 500,000 tons of aluminum per year and a 1,000-megawatt captive power plant.
