Iran participates in oil, gas exploration projects in Pakistan

Iranian firms have participated in the biggest oil and gas exploration project in Pakistan, Mohammad Iravani, chairman of Board of Petroleum and gas Drilling Assembly Companies, said.

After wining the related tender, the Iranian firms have involved in the project worth $40 million, Iravani said, Mehr news agency reported May 2.

He did not unveil further details about the Iranian companies.

The Iranian companies have started two-dimensional and three-dimensional seismic survey in potentially promising structures located southern Pakistan, Iravani said, adding the contract covers an area of about 4000 square kilometers.

He further said that Pakistan has expressed interest to continue the cooperation with Iranian companies, adding Iran also seeks to participate in similar projects in the region.
Iranian companies will take part in tenders regarding drilling and exploration projects in Central Asia, Iraq, and Turkmenistan.

Earlier, Iranian deputy oil minister Amir Hossein Zamaninia said that the country plans to buy new shares of oil and gas fields abroad and to participate in oil and gas projects across the world.
