Iran’s imports from Arab, African states dropped by 36%

The volume of Iran's imports from Arab and African countries over the last calendar year (ended March 20) decreased by 36 percent compared to the preceding year.

Director General of the Arab-African States Department at Iran Trade Promotion Organization Farzad Piltan has said that the imports from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) indicated the highest level of drop among the other Arab and African countries, TASNIM news agency reported. He added that Iran's imports from the UAE dropped by $5 billion.

Meanwhile, Iran's imports from Egypt dropped by $14 million in the mentioned period. According to the official, Iran imported $8.200 billion worth of goods from Arab and African countries over the last Iranian calendar year.

The figure for the preceding year was $13 billion. Piltan said that Iran exported $13 billion worth of goods to Arab and African countries over the last year, indicating five percent growth year on year.
