Iran is planning to export agricultural and fishery products to Russia's Astrakhan via aircraft. Head of Iran Fisheries Organization Hassan Salehi has said that the first airplane carrying Iran's agricultural and fishery products to Astrakhan will tack off from an airport in Tehran over the current week, IRIB reported.

He further added that the customs of Iran and Russia are discussing an agreement to facilitate trade between the two countries. Iran exported over 1,000 tons of various types of seafood, including 487 tons of shrimp, to Russia through ground transportation during the past Iranian year, which ended on March 20.

Tehran says it is able to improve its fisheries export to Russia from the current 1,000 to 30,000 tons per year.

Iran's last year fisheries export hit 84 thousand tons. The country says the number can easily be improved to 100 thousand.

Iran exported $151 million worth of products to Russia between March and October last year. About $80 million of the amount fell to the share of agricultural products. In other words, agricultural products account for more than half of the value of exports from Iran to Russia.
