Italy's Saras is set to start buying oil from Iran at 30,000 to 35,000 barrels per day (bpd), which will gradually increase to 65,000 bpd if things go well, said the National Iranian Oil Company's CEO Mohsen Qamsari.

Iran's first oil shipment for Saras will soon be sent to Italy, he said, Mehr news agency reported May 20.

He also commented on the prospects of selling oil to Eni, saying Iran is ready to start business with that Italian company.

He explained that the NIOC and Eni are in talks, adding that in case the two companies come to terms, it is likely that they settle a deal for 100,000 bpd.

In February, Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said that besides the talks on the oil purchase, Eni is also considering the development of the Phase 3 of Iran's Darkhoveyn oil field.
