Iran and Singapore signed a deal for cooperation in environmental issues of oil, gas and petrochemical sectors.

Singapore's TuffChem and Iran's Tamin Petroleum and Petrochemical Investment Co (Tappico) signed a memorandum of understanding on the sidelines of the Iran-Singapore Business Forum attended by Iranian Minister of Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei, IRNA news agency reported.

Under the deal the two parties will cooperate in the field of environment protection.

The document envisages cooperation in the fields of information exchange in confronting with environmental challenges and various pollutants and reducing work accidents as well as the use of new technologies in order to promote efficiency in the petrochemical industry.

From July, the Tappico will market TuffChem's products and services related to cleaning and plant maintenance in Iran and countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States, while TuffChem will do the same for Tappico in Singapore and Asean countries based on the deal, said TuffChem managing director Allister Lim Rochstad.

The Singaporean company will also begin consultations with Tappico to reduce potential environmental incidents and accidents at Tappico's oil, gas, and petrochemical plants in Iran.

Rabiei, heading an economic delegation, arrived in Singapore May 18 to promote bilateral business and trade relations.

During the three-day visit, the Iranian minister met some ministers and top-ranked governmental and private sector authorities of Singapore to seek venues for further strengthening of collaborations between the two sides.
