A French aviation delegation will soon arrive in Tehran to negotiate over investing opportunities in Iran's International Imam Khomeini Airport(IKIA), Mahmoud Navidi, the managing director of Imam Khomeini Airport City Company, said.

Representatives from Aéroports de Paris or ADP (Paris Airports) and Bouygues SA will discuss construction of Iranshahr Terminal of Imam Khomeini airport during the visit, Navidi said, IRNA news agency reported May 21.

He further said that a memorandum of understanding was signed almost three months ago with the two French firms over the construction of the terminal.

It was agreed that the parties continue studies on the issue during a four-month period, Navidi said, adding so far four rounds of talks were held between the two parties.

If agreement is signed, the two French companies will invest in the project under BOT (Build-operate-transfer) arrangement, he said.

The new terminal is planned to have a capacity to handle 20 million passengers in a year, Navidi said, adding the Netherlands Airport Consultants (NACO) will play consultancy role in the project.

Last October, the media reported that Iran plans a $2.8 billion expansion of IKIA and that France's Bouygues SA and ADPI are among companies to express interest.

The IKIA, which locates in about 40 kilometers southwest of Tehran, has a capacity for six million air travelers a year.
