By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Iran-China trade turnover is expected to reach $60 billion per year under the Iranian Sixth Development Plan (2016-2021), Asadollah Asgaroladi, head of the Iran-China Joint Chamber of Commerce, said.

He expressed hope that the figure will surpass $100 billion in the next step, IRNA news agency reported May 24.

Asgaroladi made the remarks while addressing a joint meeting of Iranian and Chinese businessmen and economic activists in Tehran.

He said that after removal of sanctions under the nuclear deal, the Western firms are eyeing to return to Iran's market, but it will have no negative effects on the volume of trade exchanges between Tehran and Beijing.

Iran and China signed seven documents, which envisage enhanced economic and commercial cooperation.

The documents were signed on the sidelines of a joint meeting of the two countries' economic activists in Tehran.

The signatories to the documents are the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Zhejiang Province Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Iranian and Chinese private sectors.

The Chinese trade delegation, which is in Tehran for talks, is the largest business delegation to visit the Islamic Republic in recent years.

Beijing was the main importer of Iranian goods during the last fiscal year (ended March 20).

Beijing's imports accounted for 20.2 percent of Iran's total non-oil exports in terms of value and 33 percent in terms of volume in 2015.

Iran exported 25.6 million tons of non-oil goods, worth $7.23 billion, to China during the period.
