Iran president inaugurates petrochemical complex

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani has inaugurated a petrochemical complex in the northwestern city of Mahabad.

The petrochemical complex in Mahabad has a capacity for producing 300,000 tons of polyethylene and 30,000 tons of 1-Butene per year, IRNA news agency reported.

Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and a number of senior officials attended the inaugural ceremony.

The report added that 12 trillion rials (about $393.9 million) were invested in the project.

The petrochemical complex will receive 324,000 tons of ethylene per year from Assalouyeh petrochemical hub.

President Hassan Rouhnai arrived in West Azerbaijan Province May 30 as part of his visits to the country's provinces.
