National Iranian Tanker Company discloses details on tankers

Iran's Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) on average make $50,000 per year, an Iranian official said.

The commercial director of National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) Nasrollah Sardashti has said that the country's tankers have been used for 10 years, SHANA news agency reported.

He added that two international companies from Europe and Asia have rented two tankers from Iran. The official did not provide further information on the companies who rented Iranian.

According to him all Iranian tankers are now involved in carrying crude and they have no empty capacity.

Nasrollah Sardashti also said that 22 new vessels joined the country's tanker fleet during sanctions era.

The Islamic Republic has 70 tankers out of which 42 are VLCC and the National Iranian Tanker Company is considering a plan to increase the number of its tankers.
