By Mehdi Sepahvand – Trend:

This summer 35 million Iranians will be exposed to the danger of water shortage, according to Hamidreza Janbaz, CEO of Water and Wastewater Engineering Co.

He said that 301 cities of Iran, including Shiraz, Isfahan, Bushehr, and Kerman, are most likely to experience the water shortage, he said, IRNA news agency reported June 20.

Last year 547 out of 1,136 cities in Iran experienced water shortage during summer.

The capital city of Tehran, however, is not going to meet any shortage due to good precipitation during the past water year, the official stated.

Over 24 percent of Iranian households use at least 30 cubic meters of water per day. The government plans to lower the rate to 22.5 meters.
