Fundamental maintenance operations at Tehran Refinery are accomplished and the unit is back on stream after 25 days.

The set of numerous repairs and improvements cost 40 billion rials ($1.28 million), the Oil Ministry’s SHANA news agency reported Sept. 2.

Director of the Water, Power and Steam Administration of the Tehran Refinery Akbar Kazemi said Aug. 6 that the overhaul would be carried out over the distillation unit of the refinery.

The refinery’s distillation unit can process 125,000 barrels of crude per day.

The refinery has not undergone an overhaul since 2012.

Tehran Refinery was primarily developed for processing 85,000 barrels per day of oil, which was raised to 120,000 barrels per day after upgrading the facility in 1976.
