Iran is to free the import of cars with 2500+ cubic centimeters (cc) of engine, according to Farhad Ehtesham Zadeh, chairman of the Association for Car Importers.
The permit was given by the General Council of the Court of Executive Justice and a written order will ensue in the coming days, Ehtesham Zadeh told Mehr news agency Sept. 6.
He explained that 2500+ cc cars were previously banned in Iran under the luxury car grouping, but said engine volume does not count as a criterion for luxury classification anywhere in the world.
“Our suggestion is to set a price threshold of $100,00 for luxury car definition,” he said.
