An existing deal between two Iranian and US telecommunication operators is restricted to providing international roaming services.

“The cooperation is only restricted to international roaming services,” Mehr news agency quoted Sasan Jabari, a senior official with Iran’s RighTel telecommunication company.

Saying that providing international roaming services in Iran is not something new, he added that RighTel has already established roaming services with 123 operators in 87 countries.

The New York Times earlier reported that the American company of AT&T had started to provide voice and data service in Iran to its customers with American phones through a partnership with RighTel.

According to RighTel officials, the company already has roaming deals with 33 European countries and most of them are supported by British telecom giant Vodafone.
