Iran loading South Pars phase 20 platform

Iran loading the forth platform of South Pars gas field since the beginning of current fiscal year, started on March 21.

The Phase 20’s platform with production capacity of 28 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) will be loaded on October 24, Shana quoted Alireza Ebadi the managing director of Phases 20 and 21.

The platform on phase 21 was loaded in September and is expected to become operational in November.

The platforms would add 57 mcm/d of gas to the country’s production capacity.

During the current fiscal year, Iran has loaded platforms 19A, 18B, 17B as well.

All of them are expected to become operational by the end of the current fiscal year. Iran plans to increase the output capacity of South Pars by 100 mcm/d to 540 mcm/d by March 21, 2017.

Currently Iran’s total gas production stands at 750 mcm/d. The figure is expected to reach 1,000 mcm/d by March 2018 and 1,260 mcm/d by 2021.

South Pars is joint field between Iran and Qatar. Iranian side contains about 18 trillion cubic meters, which shares about a half of the country’s total reserves.
