Iran’s Khazar Sea Shipping Lines Co. is planning to start shipping oil and products in the Caspian Sea, CEO Ali Akbar Ghanji said.

“We are planning to raise our share of the Caspian Sea shipping from 35 to 50 percent in two years,” he said, Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Co. reported October 31.

“To achieve that, we are going to diversify the shipments that we carry,” he said.

“Right now the Caspian Seas biggest shipping line belongs to Iran. The Shipping Company has drafted a five-year plan which will maintain Iran as powerful as ever at the Caspian Sea.”

He further noted that Khazar Sea Shipping Lines has stationed refrigerated containers at a port in Russia as part of cooperation agenda with the northern partner.

“At the same time we are building silos and a station for oil reservoirs. These are based on the fact that we believe our biggest trade partner in the Caspian region is Russia.”
