Iran, Belgium’s Flanders discuss industrial co-op

Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh met with Belgium’s Minister-President of Flanders and Flemish Minister for Foreign Policy and architectural heritage Geert Bourgeois.

The sides discussed industrial cooperation.

Iranian industrialists in the private sector are ready to use Belgian companies’ technical capabilities, Nematzadeh said, adding the two countries should make long-term cooperation plans, SHANA news agency reported November 1.

He added that Iran and Belgium can conduct useful cooperation in steel, glass, chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

Bourgeois, who is in Iran heading a 140-member delegation, said he is willing to boost mutual cooperation, his country is willing to share industrial knowhow with Iran.

The improvement of banking relations is highly important and a Belgian bank has recently started cooperating with Iranian banks, he noted.
