Iran plans to increase its daily gas output from South Pars gas field by 70 million cubic meters over the next 45 days.

The giant gas field’s current output stands at 430 million cubic meters per day, and is projected to hit 500 million barrels per day over the next months, Tasnim news agency reported.

South Pars gas field is divided into 24 development phases and contains 40 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

The gas field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatar's territorial waters.

The country’s oil ministry has made efforts to bring the phases of 19, 20 and 21 as well as the remaining parts of phases 17 and 18 on stream by March.
