The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) drilled about 3,313 meters of offshore oil and gas wells using its drilling fleet during the first half of the current Iranian fiscal year (started March 20), Siamak Afshari, director of the Offshore Drilling Operations Department at NIDC, said.
The company has carried out drilling of 8 offshore oil and gas wells during the six-month period, Afshari said, SHANA news agency reported Nov. 6.
The drilling operation includes 1,552 meters of repair wells, as well as 1,791 meters of developmental ones, he said.
Shahid Modarres offshore drilling rig has carried out drilling of 4 wells in Doroud oil field, he said, adding three wells had been dug using directional drilling rig of the NIDC in Abouzar oil field.
Shahid Rajaee drilling rig also has carried out repair operation of a well in phase 11 of South Pars gas field, Afshari said.
The NIDC drilled about 159 kilometers of oil and gas wells using its drilling fleet during the first half of the current Iranian fiscal year. The company has carried out drilling of 98 offshore and onshore oil and gas wells during the six-month period.
By holding 157.8 billion barrels of recoverable crude oil reserves, Iran possesses the world's fourth largest reserves of crude oil. The Islamic Republic also holds 34 trillion cubic meters of proven gas reserves, sharing 18.2 percent of total global gas reserves, which puts the country in the top of the world's gas holders list.
