By Khalid Kazimov – Trend:

Following a recent gas dispute with Turkmenistan, the Iranian oil ministry says the Islamic Republic’s gas production over the past three years has increased by 50 percent.

The country's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has said that the country faces no problems in gas production as Iran’s gas output over the past three years has increased by 50 percent, IRNA news agency reported.

The country’s current capacity for gas production stands at 730 million
cubic meters per day, he added.

The remarks came following the disputes between Iran and Turkmenistan over the outstanding debts for previous natural gas sales.

Reuters citing Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported Jan. 3 that Turkmenistan has limited natural gas supplies to Iran since Jan. 1 over unpaid past deliveries.

According to the minister, the inauguration of new phases at the country’s South Pars gas field, on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf in Asalouyeh seaport, has led to a considerable surge in Iran’s gas production.
