Iranian officials warn against forest destruction

Over 40,000 hectares of rainforests located in northern Iran are being destructed on a daily basis, Mehr news agency reported.
MP Alimohammad Shaeri has warned against forests destruction in the country saying the total area of the country’s forests has decreased to 14 million hectares from 18 million hectares over the past several years.
He further added that the remaining forests are not in a proper condition.
On the other hand, Hadi Kiadaliri the head of Iran’s the head of Forestry Association of Iran, has earlier warned that the country’s total forests may be cleared over the next 30 years.
