Third unit of Iran’s Mahshahr power plant comes into force

The third pahse of Mahshahr combined cycle power plant, located in southern Iran came into force on Jan. 15.

By exploiting the third gas unit of Mahshahr Combined Cycle Power Station, the total capacity of the power plant increased by 162 megawatts to 486 megawatts, Mehr news agency reported.

Mahshahr Combined Cycle power plant with 4 gas units is under construction in Khouzestan Province by the Energy Ministry to generate regional electricity needs.

It is planned that the forth unit will be ready to join national electricity network before the peak annual temperature of the summer 2017.

The total capacity of the power plant is 648 megawatts. A peak post with 230 kilovolts will transfer generated electricity to the electricity national network.

In the gas shortage periods, 20,000 meters per square diesel is designed to be stored in three reservoirs which can prepare the power stations fuel for a period of 45 days.

MAPNA, an Iranian enterprise which operates in the area of construction and development of thermal power plants, is the main contractor and equipment provider of the project.
