Iran becomes world’s 18th economy

Iran’s economy is one of the most stable and has become the 18th economy of the world for the year 2016, government spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said citing a recent report from the World Bank.

Speaking in a press conference, Nobakht also said that during the current Iranian fiscal year, which started March 20, 2016, the government allocated 45 trillion rials ($1.4 billion) to paying its debts to the banking system and increasing the assets of six government banks, Trend correspondent reported January 24.

He also said that during the same period, the government paid 14.289 trillion rials of facilities to production units as a means of improving the country’s gross domestic product.

Also, 39.723 trillion rials went into construction projects, the government spokesman said.
