Iranian clothing companies have signed 12 deals with foreign brands to produce clothes in Iran and sell them on domestic and foreign markets, Deputy Minister of Labor for Job Creation Issa Mansuri said.
“We have plans to create jobs in several areas in the country. It is estimated that through an investment of 5 trillion rials ($154.3 million), 370,000 job positions in the clothing industry are achievable,” he said, Mehr news agency reported March 7.
In 2016, Iran's unemployment rate was estimated to amount to 11.29 percent of the total labor force.
According to Iran’s 6th Development Plan (2017-2022), the government should be lowering the unemployment rate by 0.8 percent each year.
