Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has attended a ceremony to inaugurate a railway connecting western province of Hamedan to capital city of Tehran.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony in Hamedan, President Rouhani said that the new railroad connects the province to the country’s rail system, IRNA news agency reported.
Over $300 million (9.7 trillion rials) has been invested in the construction of the 276 kilometer-long railway.
Some 35 bridge (1.64 km long) has been constructed along the railway.
Trains can reach speed of 160 kilometer per hour (km/h) for passenger trains and 120 km/h for cargo trains.
