By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

Iran will hold an international tender to find financers for its plane purchases, Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan, the Islamic Republic’s deputy minister of Road and Urban Development for International Affairs, said.

So far nine major financial institutions from Japan, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, China and the UK have expressed readiness to finance Iran’s plane purchases from Airbus and Boeing, Fakhrieh Kashan said, IRNA news agency reported May 15.

The Islamic Republic is preparing the tender documents to pick credible financers, the official said, expressing hope that the tender will be held within one month.

Iran’s Mehr news agency also quoted Fakhrieh Kashan that the ministry has rejected Britain's key export credit agency, UK Export Finance (UKEF)’s financing offer in line with the Islamic Republic’s major policies.

“We move in line with the country’s major policies and can not negotiate as there is no permission for negotiations,” the deputy minister said without unveiling further details.

Last week Fakhrieh Kashan said that the UKEF has proposed a plan to Iran to facilitate the financing of aircraft purchases from Boeing and Airbus.

He added that the UKEF has announced that it could resolve any bank-related problem that might occur as a result of US pressures.

The country has reached agreements with Airbus, Boeing and ATR to purchase new aircraft following the historic nuclear deal between Tehran and the six world powers which came into force in 2016.
