Iran plans to increase petchem output by 16%

Iran plans to increase the petrochemical production volume from 50.6 million metric tons (mn mt) during the last fiscal year to 58.9 mn mt in the current fiscal year, started onMarch 21, Shana news agency reported May 22.

According to the report, the country’s nominal production capacity is also stands at 72 mn mt/yr.

Shana news agency reported that during the last fiscal year, the net sale amount of petrochemical products also would increase by 5.6 mn mt to 33.2 mn mt during the current fiscal year, of which 23.5 mn mt would be exported.

Iran plans to inaugurate 7 petrochemical plants during the current fiscal year. The country would inaugurate 23 plants in the next fiscal year and further 34 plants by 2021.

For completion of the current petrochemical plants, some $20 billion and for 34 new projects, some $35 billion investment is required to increase the current 62 million tons per year nominal production capacity to 150 mn mt/yr by 2025.

The board of governors of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has also approved an annual plan, aimed to increase the country’s gas output by 17 percent during the current fiscal year.

According to a report, released by Shana news agency on May 21, Iran’s oil output also would increase by 8 percent, while gas condensate, NGLs and other liquids would increase by 29 percent.

The report, didn’t mention any figures, but Iran’s gross gas output reached 285 billion cubic meters per year (bcm/y) during the last fiscal year and considering a 17-percent growth, it should reach 333 bcm/yr during the current fiscal year.

Iran’s oil output would also reach mb/d, while the gas condensate production volume would reach 720,000 b/d, based on plan.
