Iran’s industry minister calls for export-oriented investment

Iran nowadays requires exports-oriented investment, the country’s minister of industry said.

Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said the country has envisaged the issue of exports in its recent partnership agreements with foreigners, IRNA news agency reported.

The minister further spoke about the proper quality of some Iran-made products and said the country needs to increase the output volume of its high-standard products, the report added.

According to the minister, the country’s cement producers as well as steel and petrochemical industries are among the qualified sub-sectors of economy that are highly capable of competing in international markets.

Iran exported about five million tons of steel over the last fiscal year (ended March 20) and the officials have planned to boost the export level by two million tons over the current year.

In total, industrial products shared 33 percent of Iran’s exports in terms of value over the last year as it exported worth of $14.496 billion goods.
