Iran unveils details on its vehicle output

Over 103,954 cars were produced in Iran in the last Iranian calendar month (April 21-May 21, 2017).

The figure indicates a rise by 1.5 percent as compared to the same period of the preceding year, the Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry reported May 31.

Passenger cars (including sedans and SUVs) accounted for 97,942 of the output with a production growth rate of 4.6 percent.

Iranian car makers also produced 1,006 trucks in the one-month period, indicating a fall by 9.5 percent year on year.

The country’s bus output increased by 65 percent to stand at 99 vehicles.

Iranian car manufacturers also produced 69 minibuses (a 40.8 percent increase) and 4,760 pick-ups (36.9 percent fall) during the one-month period.

Iranian car manufacturers produced 172,033 cars in the current Iranian fiscal year (started March 20), 8.1 percent more year-on-year.

Over 162,516 passenger cars (11.5 percent increase), 7,667 pick-ups (a 33.9 percent fall), 1,476 trucks (a 5.4 percent fall), 162 buses (a 74.2 percent increase) and 116 minibuses (an 87.1 percent increase) were produced during the two-month period (March 20-May 21).

Over 1.350 million cars were produced in Iran in the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20).

Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall compared to the preceding year.

Iran was the world’s 20th biggest car manufacturer by end of 2015, while the country stood at the 18th place in the first half of 2015.

The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicates that Iran’s car production increased by 46.7 percent and stood at 1.1 million cars.
