Iran’s ATA Airlines is planning to resume its Tehran-Baku flights as of early September, an informed source told Trend.

The company, which launched its Tehran-Baku flights in June 2016 for the first time, has suspended its flights since July 8 due to measures aimed at devising new structures concerning the route, the source, who asked to remain anonymous, added.

The ATA Airlines, which was established in 2008, is headquartered in Tabriz and performs 80 flights per day, making it the fourth busiest Iranian airline after Iran Air, Mahan and Aseman.

Back in July, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev voiced his country’s interest in the flights from various cities of Iran to Azerbaijan’s Baku, Ganja and Nakhchivan cities. The minister expressed hope that this would contribute to development of tourism industry in both Iran and Azerbaijan.

About 60,000 Iranians visited Azerbaijan during Nowruz holidays (late March) in the current year.
